The golden color of the lid creates a glowing frame for the image of the Holy Family. The gold tone metal is carved in a scrollwork pattern and is set with a small carved star. The star is set with five clear crystals the centre stone slightly larger than the surrounding ones. The holy family is depicted using hammered silver tone metal with incredible attention to detail. Jesus is seated on Mary's lap with both parents looking adoringly at the holy child. Joseph is pictured holding a lily in his right hand cupped against his heart. There is a great deal of texture in this piece, intricate carving is continued along the sides and the inside has a gentle floral motif. An absolute treasure.
