The Crucifixion is a bas-relief icon.  Christ’s feet are nailed separately rather than one over top the other in Western representations.    IC XC (the first letters of the Greek for Jesus Christ) is below the end of each hand.  The Slavonic there is the pray for Christ to “Have Mercy.” The Verso contains the Virgin Emanuel.  The Virgin has her has outstretched in an Eastern manner of prayer.  In her womb a youthful Christ is depicted with His hands outstretched. Around the Virgin are Russian Monastic and Hierarchal Saints such as Sts Sergius, Tikhon, Seraphim , John of Kronstadt and Peter the Metropolitan 1 3/4"x1"
