Imperial Russian tradition dictated that your Pascha (Easter) table be set with your finest porcelain.  This plate is exquisitely decorated in decorated in an old Russian style.  XB (the first two letters of the Slavonic words “Christos Voskresse” which is Christ Is Risen!) dominates the plate.  This design if alternated with floral elaboration which has its origins in Byzantine ornamentation and was used extensively in Old Russian decoration.  The plate is of Russian porcelain and holds 9 eggs. 10 1/4”
